This is how absurd the focus on COVID-19 has become

Kids in class

A friend of mine, let’s call him John, noticed that one of his kids was sick in class. Concerned for the welfare of the rest of the class, he had the kids parents pick up their kid and advised the to take him to a doctor and get him tested for COVID-19.

So far, seems like a sensible story.

The next day, the student came back to class, still sick, with a note from his doctor essentially saying “It’s bronchitis, not COVID-19.”

Aside from the fact that this is still a highly infectious disease, the student didn’t even get tested for COVID.

John sent the kid to the school infirmary (or sick room) and the nurse read the note and sent the student back to class. After complaining to his superiors, they all agreed that the student should stay in class because he wasn’t confirmed COVID-19 positive.

Never mind that symptoms for bronchitis are similar to symptoms for COVID-19, nor that COVID-19 isn’t even a health threat for kids.

But the world has gone so crazy, and bipolar with its tunnel vision on COVID-19 that everything else is simply not important.

Whole communities are locked up in Europe because of one minor health factor, while everything else — mental health issues, long term affordability of health care, medical checkups, and the other thousands of diseases that affect people more than COVID-19 — is simply blurred out of focus and ignored.

My friend John actually lives in a sane country where the government takes a pragmatic approach to COVID-19 and hasn’t had any lockdowns. But even here the scaremongering is off the scale.

This focus on COVID-19 is simply absurd.
