The Moderna Vaccine trial is even worse than Pfizer’s

Moderna vaccine
Coronavirus vaccines are coming, but when will they arrive?

After writing about Pfizer’s vaccine “trial” I couldn’t have imagined that one would be worse. And I have a pretty good imagination!

Pfizer’s absurdly rigged trial required that participants test positive for COVID-19 AND have at least one symptom to count as a positive case. i.e. The thousands that possibly contracted COVID-19 but didn’t show symptoms (the vast majority) were considered as successful trial guinea pigs.

Think about that for a moment, The vaccine that is 95% “effective” doesn’t stop you getting, transmitting, nor dying from COVID-19. All it does is.. well.. nothing.

So I looked at the Moderna vaccine trial.

LOL

They took it an extra step.

In addition to testing positive, you have to have

TWO of the following symptoms: Fever (≥38ºC), chills, myalgia, headache, sore throat, new olfactory and taste disorder(s); or

At least ONE of the following respiratory signs/ symptoms: cough, shortness of breath or
difficulty breathing, OR clinical or radiographical evidence of pneumonia; and

Other typical symptoms that were included in the Pfizer trial didn’t count: diarrhea, chills, vomiting, fatigue, congestion, runny nose.

So if you received the vaccine, contracted COVID-19, and had diarrhea, chills, vomiting, fatigue, congestion, runny nose, and a high fever, you didn’t count as a positive case.

Amazing! My main symptoms were fatigue and lost voice. So I guess I didn’t have COVID-19 after all!

So you may not be surprised to hear that the trial was a success with the new drug achieving a 95% “efficacy” and emergency approval from the FDA.

One participant who received the placebo died of COVID (or died with COVID), which one who received the vaccine was hospitalized, tested positive for COVID at the hospital, but wasn’t tested in time for the trial wasn’t counted.

This is being conveniently ignored in the press.

I do love math. All you have to do is stop counting.

So here’s what the Moderna Stage III trial actually demonstrated:

  1. 94.5% of patients experienced and adverse reaction to the vaccine (page 33). Yes that sounds like a lot, but it was 60% in the placebo, so let’s go with 34.5%, which is still a lot. Like more than even experience symptoms of COVID-19, for example.
  2. Patients who received the vaccine were 94.5% less likely to experience at least two of the symptoms listed above within the period of 14-50 days of receiving the vaccine than those who didn’t
  3. Patients who didn’t receive the vaccine had a 99.4% chance of not contracting COVID-19 and displaying at least two of the symptoms above within the 14-50 day time frame.

So, in summary, the trial demonstrated that for a 36 day window of time, the vaccine can reduce the chances of you showing symptoms of COVID-19 by 0.5%, while guaranteeing a 94.5% chance of experiencing adverse reactions.

If I were a betting man, and and I am, I’d look at these odds and think, “Damn, these guys better have a good propaganda machine!”
