Gladys Berejiklian helping kids out

The premier of New South Wales, Australia’s most populous state, Gladys Berejiklian, just announced that she’ll redirect vaccines from elderly in the country to high school students in Sydney.

Great idea Gladys. This is the sort of thing we love: politicians taking actions that have layers of stupidity interspersed with complete idiocy.

STUPIDITY

Let’s start with the fact that most year 12 students don’t start turning 18 until July, and that no vaccines have been approved for anyone under 18. That means by the end of August, less than 20% of students would be eligible for the vaccine. Students who are vaccinated would then have an unfair advantage over those who aren’t (except for the significant side effects) because of the upcoming discriminatory laws about to be introduced.

In addition, because the school year ends in December and there’s 3 months between vaccine shots, year 12 kids won’t be fully vaccinated until after the school year end.

And that’s just the first layer of stupid. Gladys doesn’t disappoint.

COMPLETE IDIOCY

Secondly, the virus isn’t dangerous for kids. How did this fact not filter into Sydney?

In the UK, a grand total of 25 kids died from Covid in the first year of the pandemic, of which only six had no underlying conditions, according to a recent study.

2 in a million is sort of hard to comprehend. So consider this: the odds of a kid under 19 in the US dying of anything other than Covid in the next 12 months is 0.05%, or 500 in a million. So for a kid, getting Covid is about as dangerous as living for a day.

Would you shut down schools for a day to prevent a disease that would kill the same number of kids who would have died anyway? How about six weeks? No? That’s why you aren’t the NSW premier.

And here’s the next level of stupid.

ABSOLUTE STUPIDITY

The virus isn’t 100% safe. Yes, we all know this. In fact, it seems to have a mortality rate of around 66 per million based on numbers reported in VAERS. Other sources put it at between 18 per million and 35+ per million. Finding a fair discussion of it is difficult because of the ongoing media censorship by Google, Facebook, et al.

Quite simply, the real death toll has been suppressed. And for a very good reason: money. Pfizer is set to make a billion bucks this year and a whole bunch more next year. Ditto Moderna and J&J. But even Australian politicians realize that the vaccine kills.

In Queensland, the Chief Health Officer Jeanette Young (who is actually a doctor and vaccine expert) said she wouldn’t recommend the AstraZeneca vaccine to anyone under 40. She was widely panned for this stance, despite this also being the recommendation of the ATAGI (Australian Technical Advisory Group on Immunizations).

Even the most conservative measure — sudden death within 24 hours of the vaccine — showed AstraZeneca at 2 per million and Pfizer at 3.5 per million. So about the same number of kids would simply drop dead immediately from the vaccine as would potentially be saved from Covid.

IDIOTIC

Did I mention idiotic? Taking vaccines away from elderly people and giving them to students in the city would make sense if those elderly people would never need them. They may not need them now, but they may need immunity in 4 months, which is how long it takes to get fully vaccinated.

So to summarize:

Giving the vaccine to year 12 kids would result in

• Unfair advantage to some kids
• Almost zero 2-shot vaccination rate by the end of the academic year
• Zero lives saved
• Several kids dying from the vaccine within a month
• Thousands of kids having short term side effects
• An unknown number of kids suffering from long term side effects
• Delayed vaccination for elderly people in the country

And we haven’t even mentioned money here. Vaccines aren’t cheap. It costs $200+ to administer two doses of the vaccine.

Stupid, idiotic, and more stupid.
